Location: Remote, but you will need to be able to attend four full board meetings in person per year

About the role

CARE International UK is in a strong position, increasing impact and growing financially. Halfway through delivery of our strategy ‘Women Leading Change at Times of Crisis’ we are seeking to appoint up to four additional Trustees to our Board, including a new Chair of the Board of Trustees. These vacancies have arisen as current Trustees and the Chair comes to the end of their terms of office.

CARE International UK is a UK Charity that is one part of the CARE International confederation delivering humanitarian and development responses and advocacy towards the most challenging issues of our time. We are looking for people who have a strong interest and or knowledge and experience in this complex context and have experience of being a charity board Trustee already.

Skills and experience

With a strong core Trustee board currently in place, we are looking to bring the following skills, knowledge and experience to our governance:

For the Chair

  • Extensive executive charity leadership experience (ideally Charity CEO level) in an international context.
  • Previous experience Chairing and as a Trustee in the UK non-profit context.
  • Experience in the one or more of the disciplines below.

For Trustees

  • Strategic communications experience including PR, media, corporate, social.
  • Director level voluntary fundraising experience, including philanthropy.
  • Director level INGO finance experience in a highly contracted environment.
  • Director level organisational development and people experience including anti-racism, feminist leadership, and safeguarding.
  • A background in corporate social responsibility or charity partnerships.
  • Experience in digital and data, ideally in a social justice context.
  • Previous experience as a Trustee or non-executive director will be highly regarded.
