The UK Government has today formally submitted an updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This officially confirms the Government's plan for delivering its fair share of the Paris Agreement, announced last November by Keir Starmer at COP29.
CARE International UK statement:
“The UK's increased ambition on reducing emissions is a step in the right direction. However, women and girls in the Global South are already facing the catastrophic consequences of climate change every day, and it is only getting worse.
"As the climate crisis intensifies, we urge the UK to deliver its fair share of climate finance. Establishing an FCDO flagship programme on gender and climate change would help ensure women’s rights organisations are able to access the funding they desperately need.”
