Commenting on the Global Humanitarian Overview launch, Dorothy Sang, Head of Advocacy and Policy at CARE International UK, said:

“The Global Humanitarian Overview is another stark reminder that we are moving backwards when it comes to protecting the world’s most marginalised communities.

“Humanitarian aid and responders are under attack, and women’s rights are being curtailed, while world leaders are failing to meaningfully tackle conflict and climate change. In 2025, over 300 million people will face life-threatening and urgent needs due to the shameful inaction and indifference of political leaders.

"Women and girls are often on the frontlines of humanitarian crises and bear the brunt of their impacts. They need support now. In the face of soaring needs, wealthy countries must not retreat. Promises and platitudes are meaningless without the resources.

"The UK is a critical actor in ensuring crises do not spiral out of control, through a robust ODA budget and global leadership to match. Now is the time to act – with urgency and unwavering solidarity.”
