What is Walk In Her Shoes?

Walk In Her Shoes is a CARE International UK fundraising challenge designed to raise money for women facing conflict and crisis across the world.

We encourage you to walk, wheel or run in solidarity with women who are leading the way in places of danger. No matter your fitness level or ability, you can take part and raise vital funds to support women. Choose from our three suggested distances or simply choose your own, whenever and wherever you like over the month of March.

You can complete the challenge in any way you like - walk, wheel, run or move however you wish.

When does the challenge take place?

The challenge will start on 1 March 2025 and you have the month of March to complete it. Take on a few miles every day or schedule a few big journeys – it’s up to you!

Where does the challenge take place?

Anywhere you choose! Please choose somewhere safe though. When choosing a location, please make sure you have permission of the land or premises owner before planning your challenge.

How do I raise money for Walk In Her Shoes?

To raise money for Walk In Her Shoes, choose your distance and then create a JustGiving page using one of the links below. Once you've signed up, share your page with family and friends and encourage them to donate! You'll also receive plenty of fundraising hints and tips from us along the way.

What if I want to choose my own distance?

If you would prefer to choose your own distance that's totally fine, you can cover as many or as few miles as you like! Simply set up your JustGiving page using the link below and then make sure you remember to personalise your fundraising page so your supporters know what challenge you are taking on.

Can I fundraise as a team?

Definitely! The more people the better. Team up with friends, family or colleagues. You can do the challenge together or in separate locations.

If you are fundraising as a team, you can set up your own team challenge page on JustGiving so that you can see how much you’ve raised together. You can take on the Walk In Her Shoes challenge however you like as a team – you could each walk 25 miles, go on a 25 mile hike together – or maybe even cover a distance of 250 miles as a group!

First, you’ll need to set up your own fundraising page on JustGiving:

Take on a team challenge

Once that’s done, simply click on ‘Create a team’ on your fundraising page, and you’ll be guided through how to set up your team. Don’t forget to personalise your page to let people know what challenge you are taking on as a group! You’ll then be able to invite others to join your team, or ask people to donate directly to your team fundraiser.

Is there a fundraising target?

Our suggested fundraising target is £100, but every £ you raise will make a difference for women around the world so don’t worry if you don’t achieve that. The money you raise helps us to provide vital supplies and resources for women to lead themselves and their communities out of danger.

If you’re worried you won’t reach your fundraising target, please let our Supporter Care team know at supportercare@careinternational.org. We can give you tips, ideas and support. If you don’t make your target, you won’t be asked to make up the difference - we are hugely grateful for all funds raised.

Can I accept cash donations?

We advise that you ask people to donate through your JustGiving page. However, if you do receive a cash donation, you can add this to your fundraising page by making a donation yourself so your supporters can see how well you’re doing. Please don’t send cash to us in the post.

How do I get my free T-Shirt?

When you have raised £50 on JustGiving, you’ll receive an email from us congratulating you for being an awesome fundraiser, and asking for your T-Shirt size and delivery details. We’ll then pop a T-Shirt in the post for you so you can help spread the word while you walk. Please allow ten working days for delivery.
