Honduras
CARE’s work in Honduras
CARE has worked in Honduras since 1954. Huge inequalities, high crime rates and a high risk of natural disasters have made Honduras one of the least developed countries in Central America.
Today our work focuses on tackling the causes of poverty in Honduras’ poorest communities. Our current programmes include health and nutrition, small business development, agroforestry, irrigation, micro-watershed protection and environmental education. We work with farmers to help them grow different crops and access markets, to improve their livelihoods and access to food.
