Laurie Lee is CARE International UK's Chief Executive Officer. Laurie joined CARE from his position as the Africa Director at the Gates Foundation where he led a team working on policy, advocacy and government relations in Africa.

Shabby Amini


Shabby Amini is CARE’s Fundraising, Partnerships and Communications Director. She leads our public fundraising programme including Lendwithcare and Walk In Her Shoes; communications and PR events, including the successful International Women’s Day March; as well as corporate partnerships.


Sally Austin is CARE International's Head of Emergency Operations. She previously worked in Afghanistan, Sudan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Sally currently supports CARE country offices and partners to prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Toral Pattni, gender advisor


As CARE’s Senior Humanitarian Advisor (Gender & Protection), Toral Pattni works to support CARE country offices globally on ensuring their humanitarian response meets the urgent needs of women, men, boys and girls. She is also responsible for policy and advocacy on gender and protection and leads on CARE’s humanitarian strategy to tackle gender-based violence in emergencies.


Tom Newby is a chartered structural engineer and leads CARE International UK's emergency technical team, ensuring CARE's country offices receive the support they need, coordinating with other humanitarian organisations and formulating policy and strategy for CARE's humanitarian responses, particularly around emergency shelter.


Amelia Rule is a qualified architect and one of CARE International UK's emergency shelter advisors. She responds to emergencies wherever they happen, giving strategic and operational support to CARE's country offices whenever there are shelter needs. 


Tracey Horner is Head of Lendwithcare, CARE's crowd-funding micro-lending initiative which allows people to lend small sums to entrepreneurs in developing countries to start or grow a small business.


Ajaz Ahmed Khan is Senior Microfinance Advisor at CARE International UK. He works on the Lendwithcare initiative, supporting local microfinance organisations in ten countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. 




Salam Kanaan is Country Director of CARE Jordan with over 25 years of experience with international organisations in the Middle East. Her work focuses on addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality, working in a comprehensive manner to serve individuals and families and facilitate lasting change.  


Gareth Richards is Country Director of CARE Lebanon. Gareth was formerly Country Director with CARE Yemen and Regional Director for MENA before joining CARE Lebanon as CD in August 2014 where the national programme is focused on support to vulnerable refugee and local communities affected by the Syria crisis


John Uniack Davis is CARE’s Country Director for Turkey and northern Syria. He was previously CARE’s Country Director in Madagascar (2008-2013).


Hazem Fahmy is the Country Director of CARE Egypt with more than 10 years of experience at CARE Egypt in different roles.


René Celaya is the Country Director of CARE West Bank & Gaza. René joined CARE in 1996 and has served with CARE in various country and regional positions in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa. 


Aude Rigot is CARE's Regional Emergency Coordinator for West Africa, having worked for more than 14 years in emergency conflict and disaster settings.


Rotimy Djossaya is Country Director for CARE International in Niger, with over 19 years of experience in international humanitarian relief and development, leadership and operational management.


Alex Maclean is Country Director of CARE Philippines. She has worked in development and humanitarian programmes for over 20 years, in Africa and South and Southeast Asia.


Lex Kassenberg is the Country Director of CARE Nepal. He previously worked for CARE in Somalia and Afghanistan as well as being assigned to the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan to set up CARE's office and initial emergency response. He is an experienced operator under challenging working conditions.
